Master Richard Clear has studied in both the United States and China. He has over 40 years of continuous study in the martial arts, psychology, philosophy, medicine, and physiology. He began teaching in 1983, and opened his first Pentjak Silat martial arts school, in Tampa, Florida in 1990. He relocated the National Headquarters to the Smokey Mountains, in Maryville, Tennessee in November 2001.
Master Clear has combined an intimate knowledge of American hardcore real street smart tactics with ancient insights and practices of the East with the scientific anatomy and physiology of the West, succesfully teaching a variety of students including CIA, DEA, SWAT, and Military Special Operations.
Si-Gung Clear and his highly successful schools have been featured in Inside Kung fu magazine, Fox National News, World Net News Daily, as well as other local television and media all over the U.S.
His training includes over ten styles of Silat and Kung Fu, as well as intensive knowledge of Tai Chi and Chi Kung (the study of combining the power of the mind, breath, and body posture.) His certifications include a Master level (Si-Gung) in Internal Kung Fu, and Guru (teacher) level in Pentjak Silat and he has researched and obtained instructor certification in many other styles and systems. Master Clear is professionally sanctioned by KunTao Silat deThouars, Silat Kilap Betawi DeThouars, Black Tiger Fighting Society, Jackson’s Wu Shu Institute, the International Taiji Boxing Association, and the Jian Mei Internal Arts Association.
